THE SCARYFISH RECORDS CONTEST! Over 350 ways to win! If you set one or more of the contest records, your character(s) will be listed in a results file in a future update of SCARYFISH! You'll be famous! Just send in a disk with RECORDS.SF3 by January 10; printouts would be too easy to forge. Include your name & address; there's an entry form at the end of this file. If you're not sure your records have a chance of winning, view the results of previous years (RESULT96.TXT, RESULT95.TXT, etc) or the ScaryNet records. Good luck! 2 Grand Prizes -------------- Biggest Fish Landed, any of the original 42 species Most Points, any session length 2 First Prizes -------------- Most Fish, any session length Most winning Second Prize records in the contest (see below) Note: Winning a Grand or First prize means you also won at least one Second prize, so you get a free update too! 121 Second Prizes ----------------- 20 Biggest Fish, any of the original 42 species (20) Biggest Of A Species (42) Most Of A Species, one session (42) "IFGA" Records (8) Most Species, one session (1) Most Points in one session, each session length (4) Most Fish in one session, each session length (4) 244 Third Prizes ---------------- 2nd-5th Biggest Of A Species (168) 2nd-10th Most Points (36) 2nd-10th Most Fish (36) 2nd-5th Most Species (4) CONTEST RULES To enter, send a floppy disk (either size) with your RECORDS.SF3 file(s) to PMP Software Records Contest, PO Box 18691, Saint Louis MO 63118. A sample entry form is at end of this file. Because mention in the records results files transcends the prizes that were given in previous contests, tackle prizes have been discontinued, but all Grand, 1st, and 2nd prize winners will get a free copy or update of ScaryFish III when it's released! You can also enter via email by sending your RECORDS.SF3 file(s) and ENTRY.FRM info to the PMP software email address. The older records file format (RECORDS*.SF2) is no longer accepted. If you enter via email and win a free update, you'll get the update sent quickly by email. Entries must be postmarked on or before January 10. If sent by email, the date must be January 10 or earlier. No forged date info! If you're reading this after January 1998, there's probably another year of the contest but you might want to check to make sure. Void where prohibited. You may enter as often as you like, but multiple instances of the same record will only be counted once. PMP Software members and their families are not eligible. Employees and immediate families of sponsors of this contest are not eligible for prizes offered by that sponsor. A record can be set at a world created with the SCARYFISH Make Your Own Worlds utility, with the exception of the following categories: Most Fish, Most Of A Species, Most Points, and Most Species. Results will have a * by the world name to indicate a user-created world if the category is not eligible. This prevents people from making worlds just for the purpose of breaking records. User-created worlds in the User Worlds I, II, and III _are_ eligible for those categories, though, with the following exceptions: - Most Fish records set at One Of A Kind. - Stocked Reservoir records with a * in front of the record. - Any world released in the User Worlds in .MOW format (Slow Stream and Oddbjorn's World). Some people have the game in two directories, one with all worlds and one with only worlds eligible for the above categories, then send in multiple records files. If you get over 65535 points, your score will "turn over" in the records file, appearing as 65536 less than the actual point value. If you want that record to count, save a transcript of the session and send it in with your entry. Because your record might get overwritten, you might want to save the records file under a different name, then send it in also as proof. You don't have to be registered, but the superior action at the registered user worlds would probably increase your chance of winning a prize. See "Registration/Ordering Info" from the game's main menu or the file ORDER.FRM. Not responsible for lost or misdirected entries, or if your records file(s) are unreadable. You can send multiple records files on the same disk (ex. running the game on machines at home and work, and you have impressive records on both), but give them different names like 'RECORDS1.SF3', 'RECORDS2.SF3', etc. so they don't get overwritten. In the case of a tie between different characters, a computer- generated random number will pick one winner, with each tied contestant getting equal chance of winning. For multiple instances of the exact same character/record combination, the one with a corresponding transcript file will be considered authentic. Sending in multiple copies of the same record will NOT increase your odds of winning! For the "Most 2nd place records", the total counts ties as a fraction, i.e. a 2-way tie is .5, a 4-way is .25. PMP Software reserves the right to refer to a winning contestant as "Anonymous" if the character name is profane or might otherwise be considered offensive. Ditto for user-created world names. How to see the list of winners and their impressive records: 1) Get the next version of the fishing game. 2) Send SASE to PMP Software and indicate you want results list. 3) Email PMP Software requesting the results list or download it from the PMP Software online sites listed in READ.ME. 4) Visit the PMP Software Web page (address in READ.ME). Hacked or otherwise forged entries will be disqualified. Second Prize winners will get only one free update, even if they set multiple 2nd Prize records. In the event that no record is set (possible with categories where the program maintains only one record), no Second Prize will be awarded for that specific record. For categories with multiple records, you don't necessarily have to beat the preset #1 record to win. To clarify the "Most 2nd prizes" record, that is for one character on one entry (can include the same character on two records files). Automatic 2nd prizes from a Grand or First Prize are not included in the total: #1 of Top 20, biggest of that species, IFGA for that line class; Most Points for the session; Most Fish for the session. ____________________________________________________________________ Notes: Copy your RECORDS.SF3 file(s) onto a floppy, or email them to the PMP Software address listed in READ.ME. Standard MIME attachments are easiest; uuencoded files are also acceptable. __________________________________________________________________ Sample Entry Form - See the file ENTRY.FRM
